MIAMI YOUNG ARTISTS COLLECTIVE
Part of the mission of Font Squared is to support young and emerging artists in the development of a professional career. To that end, we are thrilled to introduce Miami Young Artists Collective.
Modeled after an artist in residence program, MYAC is designed for high school students and facilitated by four unique, practicing visual artists with diverse backgrounds in fine arts, graphic design, digital arts, and AP portfolio. The program offers a refreshing approach to artist development, addressing each young artist's individual needs and interests in an experience of discovery through materials and techniques, navigating towards developing a voice, a practice, and a focus. The journey culminates in the curatorial experience of mounting a group show for public viewing.
This immersive program includes:
5 weeks of instruction with all four artist educators.
4 Weeks of access to a supervised open studio experience, with access to materials (8 hours of instruction, 8 hours of open studio time).
Real life, hands on experience as a working artist.
Development and installation of a group show with an opening reception.
Support and mentorship from members of the thriving artist community located in the Bird Road Arts District.
Tuition: $500 for 5 weeks
The artist is expected to have some of their own materials, but we will provide additional materials for discovery and experimentation.
Includes a 2 hour class once a week and a 2 hour open studio session, according to a schedule to be set by the teaching artists, for 4 weeks.
The 5th week involves curating and mounting the group show.
Classes are limited to 5 students and they fill up fast. Contact us for registration or to schedule a meeting and review.
